HOUSTON -- A partially overturned 18-wheeler caused the shutdown of the West Loop southbound ramp to the Southwest Freeway northbound on Friday.
Houston TranStar reported the crash occurred at 6:30 a.m.
As of 1:30 p.m., crews were working to make temporary repairs to the ramp, and southbound traffic on the West Loop was still moving slow.
All traffic on the ramp was forced to the Southwest Freeway southbound. Travelers wishing to head toward downtown were advised to make a u-turn at Chimney Rock.
Portions of the Southwest Freeway southbound were briefly closed as crews cleaned up the debris.
Views from Air 11 showed the truck's trailer leaning on the ramp's concrete barrier. Its cab was still upright, however. The rig was moved out of the way for crews to make repairs to the barrier, which suffered major damage.
The ramp is expected to reopen in time for the evening rush hour commute.
