LIBERY COUNTY, Texas -- A mystery in the skies over Liberty County is a mystery no more.
Viewers contacted KHOU 11 on Saturday night after reporting several orange-colored lights traveling southwest at an altitude around 3,000 feet.
It turns out the lights were lanterns used in a wedding. The groom, Charles Skifka and his bride Eedayuh, sent KHOU 11 photos from the ceremony.
Calls to the sheriff’s department sent deputies into a frenzy. Officials called the FAA and the weather center looking for an explanation.
At least 12 other residents observed the same sightings. Deputies said that the objects appeared in a loose line of about 10 miles apart from the first light to the last one. Slowly the lights began to disappear one by one, deputies said. The objects apparently disappeared into the clouds.
