HOUSTON -- A firefighter is being remembered Friday night after losing his life in a freak accident while riding his bicycle in northwest Harris County.
William Braswell, 41, worked for both the Houston Fire Department and the Cy-Fair Volunteer Department.
Braswell was riding his bike Friday afternoon on North Bridgeland Lake Parkway. Authorities said he slammed into the rear end of a truck that was moving landscape equipment.
He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
He was a also a captain and a 20 year veteran at HFD. He is survived by his wife and two children.
His wife is an assistant chief at the Cy-Fair Volunteer Department.
“He was a father, husband, and our friend and mentor,” said Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department spokesman.
