HOUSTON – A veteran firefighter was laid to rest Wednesday. Mark Braswell was killed while out on a bike ride last Friday.
Braswell was a captain with the Houston Fire Department and volunteered for Cy-Fair Station 4. He had been fighting fires since 1988.
The 41-year-old father of two was also an accomplished triathlete. He was killed Friday afternoon, when his bicycle slammed into the back of a truck that was moving landscape equipment on North Bridgeland Lake Parkway.
He was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but did not survive.
