HOUSTON – Investigators are trying to identify a badly decomposed body found floating in a bayou in southeast Houston Sunday afternoon.
Investigators believe the body has been floating in the Sims Bayou for a couple of days now. Around noon, a woman visiting this area spotted the body floating in the water.
It was found under the overpass on the 8100 block of the Gulf Freeway near Belfort.
Investigators said it’s a man who may have been in his 30’s. However, they are having a hard time with this because the body is badly decomposed.
“Nobody should have to die under a bridge. Whether they had an accident or were killed. No one should have to lay like that,” Regina Halley, a witness, said.
“This person wasn’t in the middle of the bayou, was floating from west to east, chances are they floated to this location. I don’t think they fell in right here,” Officer Mark Coleman, with the Houston Police Department, said.
Police said the man is from 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a green shirt, dark-colored jeans and black-checkered shoes.
