HOUSTON — A 54-year-old woman was airlifted Saturday morning after sustaining back injuries from a fall aboard a 29-foot pleasure craft 15 miles off Galveston, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The captain of the boat called USCG Sector Houston-Galveston officials at 8:13 a.m. to report the woman’s condition and asked for assistance.

USCG launched a boatcrew aboard a 45-foot response boat to assist with the rescue.

Responders transferred her, in stable condition, back to Station Galveston where Emergency Medical Services met her.
