KEMAH, Texas –- Six people were injured in a crash that shut down Highway 146 early Monday, Kemah police said.
One of the victims was last reported in critical condition.
The crash was reported near FM 518 around 8:09 a.m., according to Houston TranStar. It shut down 146 in both directions for about four hours.
Police said two 18-wheelers and three smaller vehicles were involved in the wreck.
Views from Air 11 showed a hazmat crew spreading sand over an area where diesel fuel spilled from one of the wrecked trucks. Nearby, a red Ford pickup truck was on its side smashed against the cab of a jackknifed 18-wheeler.
A section of the guardrail was damaged.
A cause wasn’t immediately determined, but the wreck occurred during the peak of a dense fog advisory for much of southeast Texas.
