HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Texas state trooper was injured early Friday when a passing vehicle struck his cruiser from behind, authorities said.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, it was around 12:30 a.m. when the trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on the East Freeway near Federal.
DPS said a man driving a Ford Taurus veered into the emergency lane and slammed into the back of the trooper’s car.
The trooper, who was in the cruiser at the time, was sent to the hospital in stable condition. The Ford’s driver was also sent to the hospital. The person who was stopped for the traffic violation was not injured.
DPS said the offending driver would be looked over at the hospital and questioned to determine what caused the crash.
