HOUSTON — One person was killed in a rollover crash on the Southwest Freeway early Wednesday, police said.
The incident blocked all inbound main lanes for more than three hours. Houston TranStar reported the crash occurred near the exit for Bissonnet around 6:35 a.m.
Witnesses told Houston police officers that a driver swerved to avoid something that fell out of a pickup truck and hit another vehicle, which in turn flipped over. One person in the flipped vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no early reports of other injuries.
Traffic was backed up for several miles outside of Beltway 8, and drivers were warned to find an alternate route. Southbound traffic was unaffected by the crash.
The wreckage was cleared out of the way at 9:55 a.m., according to TranStar.
