HOUSTON – The owner of a high-end eyewear store immediately called police when he heard someone breaking into his business, but by the time they arrived, the thieves were gone and so was at least $50,000 worth of merchandise.

The owner lived above his business, Eye Impact, located in the 5600 block of Washington at Asbury.

According to Houston police, thieves busted in the front door of the business around 4:40 a.m., then went inside and began breaking several glass display cases.

The owner heard all the noise and called 911, but the suspects took off with the pricey merchandise before police arrived.

Police will review surveillance cameras in hopes of identifying the suspects.
