HOUSTON — MadeWell LLC took a big hit when thieves broke through a metal wall and stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of material from the east Houston business.
Luis Aceituno said the thieves hit the business, located on Harris Street, sometime between 4 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
MadeWell has been in business for more than 10 years and makes machinery and parts for oil companies.
Aceituno said their inventory is expensive, so when they learned Monday morning that thieves stole a dozen spools of copper wire, tool boxes and stainless steel rods, he knew they were going to take a cash flow hit.
Aceituno showed KHOU 11 News pallets used to hold stainless steel pipes.
“Probably 500 to 600 pounds of stainless steel that they can sell at the market. The costs for us was about $25,000,” Aceituno said.
The amount and weight of the materials stolen leads investigators and employees to believe that several suspects had to be involved. They also had to have a very large truck or trailer.
“It’s very heavy. You need at least two or three people to carry this out. They are special long bars so it’s very, very heavy,” Aceituno said.
Aceituno hopes viewers will call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS with information that will lead to arrests.
