GALVESTON, Texas—Two college students had quite a scare Tuesday after their kayak flipped over in Galveston waters.
Authorities said the Texas A&M students were kayaking in the causeway around 6 p.m. when a wave from a passing boat flipped them over and they were unable to upright it.
The kayakers floated between Tikki Island and Galveston for about eight hours before they got close enough to walk into the shore and call for help. EMS treated one of the students for cuts he received from oyster shells.
The two were shaken up, but are expected to be OK.
