HOUSTON – Officials from the Houston Fire Department are investigating to determine what sparked a fire that damaged two units in a luxury apartment home community in Katy early Friday.

Firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke coming from a one-car attached garage at the Carrington Park apartments on Park Row at Broadfield around midnight.

They made a fast attack and extinguished the flames, but two units were damaged. There was no car in the garage where the fire started, but other property stored inside was destroyed. A neighboring unit suffered smoke damage.

A man who lived at the place where the fire originated was home at the time and had to be treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

No one else was injured.
