HOUSTON -- A night of fun nearly turned deadly for three teenagers in northeast Harris County early Thursday morning.
They were recording a rap song and working on a music video when deputies said the trio started messing with a loaded gun.
It happened behind a home on Evanston around 2:30 a.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
The young friends, who all attend North Shore High School, had high hopes for a song they were recording in a makeshift studio.
One of the young men, 18, pulled out the gun to be used as a prop in the music video, detectives said. One of the other teens, 17, took the gun and accidentally shot the 18-year-old in the stomach.
Vido, the father who lives in the home, told KHOU 11 News it sounded like something fell in the house. But he realized something was wrong when the teens rushed inside from the backyard.
Vido said his son pulled the trigger not knowing the gun had bullets.
The victim was taken to Ben Taub in critical but stable condition, and friends are optimistic he’ll recover.
No charges were filed in the incident.
