Jessica Tata’s bother described the media coverage after a daycare fire killed four small children as “a state of pandemonium” as testimony continued Friday in the sentencing phase of the murder trial.
A jury found Tata guilty of murder on Tuesday with Friday being the third day of testimony in the sentencing phase.
Her brother Ron Tata took the stand and told jurors that he feared for her safety. Ron Tata admitted that he was the one that arranged for her to travel to Nigeria so that she could consult with her father.
He said he did so against the wishes of their mother.
Other witnesses on Friday described Tata as loving and nurturing, in sharp contrast to the picture painted by the prosecution.
