HOUSTON—The TEA on Thursday gave HISD state accreditation for the 2009-2010 school year after completing a review of the district’s response to allegations of testing improprieties on the TAKS test at Key Middle School and falsified student dropout records at Key and Kashmere High School.
The accreditation means the TEA recognizes HISD as a public school district that meets the education commissioner’s standards.
The district’s accreditation status had been pending since the review was launched in March.
Both Key and Kashmere are now operating under new administrations.
