HOUSTON – A woman and man were arrested Friday morning after a police chase in west Houston.
HPD said the chase started when officers tried to stop a grey Ford F-150 pickup truck on Bunker Hill Road for speeding. The truck refused to stop and traveled northbound, cutting over to Gessner Road north of Interstate 10, police said.
Police said the suspects came to a stop when they ran into a traffic jam. Memorial Village police officers got out of their patrol cars and approached the vehicle. They opened fire when the driver put the truck in reverse. Police said the officers feared the suspect was trying to run them over.
That didn’t stop the driver, police said. Police said the truck side swiped other vehicles and at times reached 80 mph.
“If it wasn’t for the sirens I’d be dead right now, because I would have pulled out and he would have T-boned me, said Nathan Sprague,” a witness. “I mean this guy wasn’t stopping for anything. It was like a scene out of a movie.”
Eventually the suspects bailed out of the truck near Tanner Road and tried to run away on foot. They were quickly apprehended.
No injuries were reported, according to the Houston Police Department.
