HOUSTON – A driver who hit and killed a 12-year-old autistic boy who was walking along a southwest Houston freeway overpass has been charged with DWI, Houston police said.

The fatal traffic accident happened at about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 11500 block of South Post Oak Road.

Gilberto Moran Aguirre, 40, was driving a black Ford F-150 truck when he struck the boy, who was walking in the street in the same direction, police said.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the boy had been on a bike ride with his dad around 5:30 p.m. when they somehow got separated. The family had reported him missing to police.
