HOUSTON -– A man was wounded when someone opened fire on him and his girlfriend in a parked car on Houston’s north side late Thursday, police said.

It happened in a strip center along the North Freeway at Korff Drive around 11:30 p.m., according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers at the scene said a Dodge Charger pulled up to the boyfriend and girlfriend, who were sitting in their Cadillac. An altercation occurred and someone in the Charger opened fire.

The boyfriend was shot in his back, and he was sent to the hospital in serious but stable condition. The girlfriend was uninjured.

Police said security cameras at the center may lead them to the suspect or suspects responsible.

Early in the investigation, a motive for the shooting was unknown.
