HOUSTON – Police early Wednesday were trying to figure out why a driver refused to pull over for officers in north Houston, resulting in a lengthy chase.

According to the Houston Police Department, it was around 1:30 a.m. when a patrolling officer said the driver of a Lincoln Town Car made a suspicious u-turn on Jensen Drive.

The officer pulled up behind the sedan, which he said then took off at a high rate of speed. The officer turned on his lights and a chase ensued. The suspect led HPD officers to the North Freeway via several surface roads before taking the 610 Loop to the Northwest Freeway frontage road.

KHOU 11 cameras were able to catch the pursuit on video, which showed at least a dozen patrol cars speeding after the suspect.

Eventually the suspect, a male in his 20s, lost a front tire and he came to a stop on Antoine. He was then taken into custody.

Police said the man had no warrants and was not intoxicated. They believe he may have thrown a baggie out of the car during the chase, and drugs may have been the reason he didn’t want to pull over.
