HOUSTON -- Police said an early morning chase came to an end when a suspect ditched their car on Houston’s north side and vanished before officers could get a good look them.
The Houston Police Department said an officer tried to stop a white sedan on Crosstimbers near Oxford shortly before 2 a.m. The driver refused to pull over, running red lights and speeding while trying to get away from police.
Police said the driver made a right turn on the Hardy Toll Road and bailed out of the vehicle before the officer could catch up. Police said the suspect’s car rolled backward, narrowly missing the officer’s patrol car.
Police said they didn’t get a good look at the driver, so no suspect description was available.
Officials used a helicopter and a police dog to search for the driver, but he was never located.
