HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputies said the driver of a stolen pickup truck jumped out and ran to evade authorities in northeast Harris County on Thursday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it happened just before 3 a.m. on Aldine Mail Route Road at MacNaughton Drive.

A female deputy said she tried to stop the truck for a traffic violation. Its driver pulled into a nearby parking lot but then suddenly jumped out and ran on foot.

Other deputies responded to the scene and searched a nearby apartment complex, but they were not able to find the suspect.

They later discovered the truck had just been reported stolen before the deputy tried to pull it over. Its owner arrived at the scene to reclaim it.
