HOUSTON -– The Houston Police Department said a man was injured early Tuesday when he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole while being pursued by officers.
According to HPD, it was around 1 a.m. when an officer ran the license plate of a pickup truck traveling on N. Cesar Chavez Boulevard near Avenue R. The officer found the vehicle’s owner had a warrant for his arrest, and a chase ensued.
The suspect led police onto Lockwood Drive where he went northbound, police said.
Eventually the driver lost control at Clinton Drive, crashing through an electrical pole and rolling the truck. The impact was so great, the lower half of the pole was knocked away and broken from the ground while the upper portion remained attached to the lines.
The man was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. Police said he would be charged with felony evading.
