Suspect caught on roof trying to break into flea market off Eastex Freeway

HOUSTON – A man trying to break in through the roof of a flea market was caught by an employee who lives there in northeast Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened around 4 a.m. at the La Estrella Flea Market located just off the Eastex Freeway near Langley.

Investigators said an off-duty police officer on a nearby overpass was able to radio in updates on the suspect’s location.

A chopper and a K-9 unit were called in, and officers were on stand-by with guns drawn as the suspect was pulled off the roof.
