HOUSTON— Houston police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another last Wednesday in southeast Houston.
The shooting happened on May 7 at about 12:30 p.m. in the 6060 block of Belarbor.
Investigators said Demarcus Harrison, 20, and Louis Dante Anthony IV, 18, were involved in a fight with several other males. Police said, at some point during the fight, Anthony produced a pistol and fired several shots.
Harrison was struck by the gunfire and died at the scene. Paramedics transferred a second man, Carldric Parker, 23, to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Police said he suffered a gunshot wound and was expected to survive his injuries.
Anthony fled the scene, and turned himself in to police last Friday. Police said Anthony admitted to his role in the shooting.
His father, Louis Dante Anthony III, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated assault after the fatal shooting.
The father’s fiancée said the victim’s family was taunting him and one thing led to another. KHOU photojournalist Scott Stevens was shooting video when the father’s car came plowing through the scene of up to 100 people.
Bystanders had only seconds to get out of the way, but nobody was injured.
