HOUSTON -- Houston police have released surveillance video of five suspects in the fatal shooting of a security guard at a southwest Houston game room on March 27.
It happened at about 12:30 a.m. at the Luck Star Game Room located in the 10900 block of Bissonnet.
Police said the suspects, three men and two women, entered the Lucky Star Game Room and began playing the electronic slot machines. Then, without warning, one of the men attacked Rueben Portillo, a 53-year-old security guard, investigators said. As the two struggled over Portillo's weapon, a second man joined in the attack. Portillo was shot once in the head during the struggle.
The men then robbed the individuals inside the game room before all five suspects fled in a silver two-door Honda Accord and red Nissan Sentra with tinted windows and a rear spoiler, police said.
The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead on March 28.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts or identities of any of the suspects is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
