HOUSTON—Sugar Land police are asking for the public’s help finding two men who are accused of attempting to use stolen credit cards at Ulta Cosmetics.
It happened on Jan. 23 at the 2601 North Town Center Boulevard location.
Briteny Amaro reported the credit cards were stolen from her wallet at La Madeleine located at 2675 Town Center Boulevard. She said she left the purse hanging from her chair while eating lunch that morning and the wallet was missing when she was ready to leave less than an hour later.
A restaurant employee saw two men sit at a table near the woman and leave about 5 minutes later, police said.
“I heard them pull the table close to me, which I thought was strange, so I dismissed it,” said Briteny Amaro. “I had my purse hanging out in the back of my chair, I felt like my purse was moving, but my daughter was also sitting in my lap.”
She immediately canceled everything. Two men matching the suspects’ descriptions attempted to use the stolen credits at a nearby store, but the transactions were declined, police said.
“I actually cancelled it 7 minutes before they tried to use it, I was lucky there,” Amaro said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
