HOUSTON — Family members watched in amazement as their grandparent’s home became a ball of fire on the northeast side of town overnight.
The fire broke out on Priest near East Hardy around 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
The couple’s grandson and his mother also live on the property in a house behind the main house. They were the first to see the flames and called 911.
“Man, I was sleeping and all of a sudden, there was a fire in my grandparent’s house and I was like just trying to run out; run out as fast as I can,” the grandson said.
By the time firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed, but they managed to get it under control before it could spread to the other home on the property.
The grandparent’s had been out for a night on the town when the fire started.
No injuries were reported.
