HOUSTON -- Police searched Johnston Middle School in southwest Houston early Tuesday following an anonymous threat over the phone, officials said.

A spokesman for the Houston Independent School District said the school received a threat around 9 a.m. As a precaution, students were evacuated and police and firefighters were brought in to look over the campus.

Nothing was found, HISD said.

Students returned to class around 9:45 a.m.
