Storage room fire prompts evacuation at northwest Houston clothing store

HOUSTON – Houston firefighters were dispatched to Northwest Mall Tuesday afternoon after smoke was reported in a clothing store.

The incident happened at Palais Royal, located at 9800 Hempstead Road, around 1:30 p.m.

According to investigators, firefighters found a small fire in a storage room of a clothing store. Smoke filled the store and was seen throughout the mall. Patrons were evacuated.

There were 11 HFD units on the scene and the fire was tapped out just after 2 p.m. Firefighters were setting up fans to help clear out the smoke.

No injuries were reported.
