HOUSTON – A 20-year-old soldier is accused of sending obscene materials to a Fort Bend County teen via cell phone and online.

PFC Robert Douglas Dewitt was arrested Wednesday in Springfield, Mo., and charged with four counts of providing obscene material by means of cellular telephone and the Internet. Investigators said the material was sent to the teen between Jan. 14, 2010 and Feb. 10, 2010.

Dewitt and the teen met through MySpace, investigators said.

Dewitt was being held in Missouri Thursday and will be transported to Houston to face a judge in the near future, prosecutors said.

Each count of providing obscene material to a minor carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 upon conviction.

Prosecutors said Dewitt was also facing an administrative discharge proceeding at Fort Leonard Wood.
