HOUSTON – A smoke shop nearly went up in smoke after a building fire early Saturday in east Houston, fire officials said.

According to the Eastex Fire Department, employees were outside the 24-hour business around 2 a.m. when they saw smoke and light from a fire coming from the building located on East Hampton near the Eastex Freeway. They called 911.

Fire officials said no one was hurt and crews put out the flames quickly. Investigators think an electrical short started the fire.
