BAYTOWN, Texas – Detectives say a 40-year-old man staggered into a Baytown motel overnight after being critically injured in a shooting outside.

Baytown police said the man was shot twice around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Ellis School Road, right behind a Super 8 motel along the East Freeway. The man entered the motel’s lobby to ask for help. A worker behind the front desk called 911, and the man was sent to the hospital by Life Flight.

The shooter was not apprehended.

Detectives said no further information about the suspect or motive in the shooting was immediately available.
