HOUSTON -– Hostage negotiators helped bring an overnight standoff involving a shooting suspect to a peaceful end, police said.

It was late Monday when the Houston Police Department said the suspect shot someone in the 4800 block of Ligonberry in southeast Houston. According to HPD, the victim got in a car and drove away to seek help. They were later sent to the hospital in unknown condition.

Meanwhile, police arrived to confront the suspect, who they said ran into a nearby home and shut the garage door. Officers tried to get the man to come out, and a SWAT team was called in.

Eventually, hostage negotiators moved in and the man decided to give himself up

“He’s going to face several charges,” said HPD spokeswoman Jodie Silva. “He obviously will face charges for shooting the male victim.”
