HOUSTON – Police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead and sent another man to the hospital in serious condition Wednesday afternoon in northwest Harris County.
A sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred at 12:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Meadow Creek Apartments in the 6400 block of York Meadows.
When deputies arrived, they found a man by the front door of an apartment with several gunshot wounds and the body of a woman shot several times inside the unit.
Kevin Pauley was devastated by the news.
“My wife and her were best friends,” Pauley, a resident at the complex, said. “They work together they hung out all the time.”
Neighbors said the woman lived there with her boyfriend, who was at work at the time of the shooting.
They said the man who was shot was just a friend.
“He was shot multiple times,” Sgt. Mark Reynolds said. “Pretty serious.”
Authorities said that man is now in surgery at Ben Taub Hospital.
Investigators said they do not have any suspect information to release. They also do not have a motive for the shooting.
But residents in the Meadow Creek complex said this is not the first time a crime like this has happened here.
“It’s not a good place to live in,” Brenda Cruz, another resident, said. “A lot of people are moving out.”
