HOUSTON –- Houston firefighters were called to Garcia Elementary School on the northside early Friday morning.

Crews could smell smoke after an alarm called them to the campus on Aldine Westfield after 4:30 a.m.

It was determined a shed next to the school had caught fire. It did not appear the fire would affect Friday’s classes.

“It ended up being an outlet building,” said Chief Carl Holder. “There was no damage to the school, and there were no injuries. The fire was under control in a short amount of time.”

Holder said arson investigators would look into what started the fire.
