HOUSTON—Several people were injured Wednesday night when a Metro bus and an SUV collided in Houston.

Police said around 10:45 p.m., a Chevy Trailblazer was headed south on Caroline and a Metro Bus was traveling west on St. Joseph Parkway when one of the vehicles ran a red light.

The bus smashed into the driver’s side of the SUV, dragging it down the road until it popped a cub and hit a small tree.

Police had to call in a heavy rescue team to extract the driver of the SUV from the wreckage.

She was taken to Ben Taub in stable condition with minor injuries, police said.

At the time of the crash, there were about six people on the bus. Several of them were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the bus driver was not hurt, but they would not give any further information about the cause of the crash or the injured passengers
