HOUSTON – A Galveston County grand jury has decided to drop the murder charges against a San Leon woman who said she shot her husband in the face.

It happened on Nov. 13, 2013 around 11:55 p.m. in the 200 block of 11th Street in San Leon.

Genevieve Harvey, 46, called 911 and told dispatchers that she took a gun from her husband Lindsey Lewis Tarver and shot him, deputies said.

Tarver was found with a gunshot wound to the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators searched the home and found the Ruger .357 revolver used in the shooting inside a dresser drawer.

A detective said Harvey was intoxicated at the time of the initial interview, but told deputies that Tarver beats and rapes her all the time.

Records showed that several assault or disturbance calls had been made to the home in the past.

The shooting wasn’t a big surprise to neighbor Nina Easley.

“He was always beating her up. The police officers were always coming over here,” she said.

Their fights sometimes happened in front of neighbors’ homes, according to witnesses.

“I called the police officers and told them that she was hollering for help. He was beating her down here in the road and I said, ‘You better hurry up. She’s hollering for help,” another neighbor said.
