ROSENBERG, Texas—Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting at Rosenberg’s Lamar High School more than 18 years ago.
Investigators on Wednesday arrested Humberto Garcia in Schulenburg, Texas, where they said he was living under an assumed name.
Police said in 1992, Garcia brought a handgun to the campus on the last day of class and shot a 15-year-old student in the 100 wing of the school. Garcia was 18 at the time.
After the shooting, investigators believe Garcia fled to Mexico, eventually landing in Schulenburg.
Garcia was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon on school property and was being held in the Fort Bend County Jail Thursday on $25,000 bond.
