HOUSTON – Homeowners in the Houston area are dealing with uninvited guests – rodents!

Critter Control has been receiving calls from Memorial, River Oaks, Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands and Clear Lake to rid homes of roof rats.

"My original thought was, what's trying to get in and why does it want to be inside our house," said a homeowner.

Roof rats like to stay high and dry, so they climb through the tiniest cracks and invade homes.

They can also cause serious and expensive damage. They chew on wiring and can short electrical circuits.

Homeowners should close any holes and cut back trees and vines near their home, especially oak trees.

Homeowners should also remain proactive and keep a pest control company’s number handy.
