HOUSTON—A robbery suspect in a red pickup truck led police on a high speed chase through southeast Houston before being taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that the suspect’s truck had been stolen from a Pasadena Walmart and tracked to the Houston area. Investigators attempted to pull over the suspect in a restaurant parking lot off MLK Drive just before 3 p.m.

Undercover Pasadena officers were also on the scene, and attempted to block in the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect allegedly rammed into a police car multiple times before a Pasadena officer fired his weapon. No one was injured.

The suspect then took off along MLK near 610 with police in pursuit.

At some point, the passenger bailed out of the car and has not been taken into custody.

The chase lasted around 15 minutes, moving north on 288 and just south of downtown. There were several close calls along the way, but no one was hurt.

The chase ended when the driver hit a dead end on the 2100 block of Isabella.

He jumped out of the truck, but officers tackled him and cuffed him.
