HOUSTON -– Two gunmen held workers at gunpoint during a robbery at a La Madeleine restaurant in west Houston early Thursday.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to Grand Parkway just north of I-10 at 5 a.m.

Workers said two young men jumped out of the bushes when a female manager and another employee arrived at the restaurant. The men, armed with guns, forced the workers inside where they took their jewelry and money.

The robbers then forced the manager to the safe. An alarm sounded and scared the robbers off before they could take anything else. Witnesses said the men dropped a backpack at the scene before fleeing.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies said surveillance cameras at nearby stores may have captured the getaway vehicle on video.
