TOMBALL, Texas—Tomball police warned the public Friday of a suspect they said is making illegal withdrawals from Chase ATM’s in the area. The only problem is, while innocent victims are using their bank cards to get cash, the suspect is using a gun.
Police said a brazen suspect is robbing Chase ATM customers at gunpoint in Tomball, so they want to educate the public, in addition to warning them.
Police and security experts give helpful advice on how not to become an easy target for crime.
Security experts said ATM safety involves a lot of common sense. They suggest going to the ATM during the day instead of night and even then, always be on alert. Driving up to the ATM has become such a habit of convenience, that many do so without always checking their surroundings.
They also said ATM customers should keep their engines running and doors locked.
Police also urge those that find themselves being robbed to do exactly what the robber says. The main goal is to live through the ordeal.
