HOUSTON – Someone pepper-sprayed and then robbed a FedEx delivery man in northwest Houston Wednesday morning.

“The way things are going in society nowadays, what are (people) thinking,” said Robert Goudeau, who saw the suspect.

Goudeau and his fellow contractors were working in the strip center where the attack happened and are irritated by what happened.

“If we’d actually seen it happen, I don’t think they would have to worry about finding (the suspect),” Goudeau said.  “We would have had a special delivery for FedEx.”

As his crew worked inside a nearby storefront, Goudeau said a man in a hoody showed up with cigarettes in hand.

“I gave him a light,” Goudeau said.  “He walked off. I didn’t pay any attention to it.”

Moments later, as a FedEx delivery man began unloading boxes of medicine for the pharmacy next door, the man attacked.  Police said he used pepper-spray on the victim’s face. Then, the suspect scooped and ran off with as many boxes as he could carry.

“I’m glad he only asked me for a lighter because I wouldn’t have been happy right now with pepper spray,” Goudeau said.

The victim said he was not allowed to talk about the incident.  However, he was able to get back in his truck.  Off camera, the pharmacy owner told us he is not sweating his loss.  His only concern is the attacker who got away.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
