MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - A Houston area motorcycle club is devastated over the loss of one of its members.
Bryan “Ace” Lackey, national road captain for the San Jacinto High Rollers, was on his Honda motorcycle when he was hit by a car Wednesday evening in Montgomery County.
Investigators said a car crashed into Lackey on state Highway 242 near Kropick Road. Lackey, who was not wearing a helmet, flew nearly a 100 feet upon impact.
Investigators said the driver of the car, 23-year-old Rodrigo Gallegos, was driving while intoxicated.
Police said there were three other passengers in Gallegos’ car, including a woman, a child and an infant, who were both in safety seats. Gallegos and the woman suffered minor injuries, while the children were unharmed.
Lackey was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died a day later.
The San Jacinto High Rollers organizes rides in the Houston area to raise money for children’s charities. They said Lackey, whom was considered to be very dedicated to the cause, was key in making sure things went smoothly. His fellow riders said he absolutely loved riding motorcycles.
Lackey was not on an official ride when he crashed.
