HOUSTON—Police had few clues to go on surrounding the fatal shooting of a man at a northeast Houston apartment complex Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the Dyersdale Village Apartments on Mesa Drive.

Authorities said the victim, described as a young black male, was gunned down just outside the laundry room of the complex.

“We need the public’s help to find out if anyone saw something,” said HPD Homicide detective Tom Ferguson.

The victim, who was not carrying any identification, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Some residents were unnerved by the murder that took place in an area that has seen its share of violence.

“It’s scary when you have kids,” said Barbara Loville. “My kids want to come out and play, but I won’t let them come out here. It’s too dangerous.”

Another resident named Daniel vowed to move his family out.

“I didn’t know someone got shot until now,” he said. “Everybody is going. Everybody in my family is going to move out of here.”
