HOUSTON—Unease took hold in a Harris County neighborhood Saturday after a brazen holdup that occurred in broad daylight on a quiet street.

A woman was visiting her grandparent’s house on Shady Bayou near Fairbrook around 4 p.m. After she pulled into the driveway, a car pulled up next to her and a pair of robbers pointed a gun and demanded her wallet, according to authorities.

The woman lowered her head and gave the men what they wanted. The suspects then sped away.

The victim said she never got a good look at the men, and so far no one has been arrested.

Neighbors who live in the area can’t believe what happened.

“It’s shocking,” said Glen Meyer. “You hear about it in other areas and think this would never happen here.”

“I think it’s scary because nothing like this happens around here,” said Amber Davila.

Other homeowners were taking added precautions to be safe.

“I’ll be aware if someone drove up by me while I’m out doing yard work or something,” said Sidney Meyer.

“I guess the crime will go where the people are,” he added.
