HOUSTON—Prosecutors in the Jessica Tata murder trial, brought a stove into the courtroom Thursday.
It is the one they said was in the day care and sparked a fire that killed four children.
The stove was so damaged by the fire that parts of it were melted.
A new stove was also brought in so jurors could compare the two.
The former head of the Houston Fire Department’s arson crime lab testified that a frying pan with cooking oil had been left on a hot burner, and the oil ignited.
He said it looked like the fire had been burning for quite a while based upon the amount of soot in the home.
Tata is accused of leaving seven children alone at her day care while she shopped.
