MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Constables will now have a permanent presence at the Montgomery County Preserve -- a wooded forest south of The Woodlands.
Officers said they have arrested a couple of male adults who tried to meet teenage boys at the park for sex.
There have been other sex related arrests at the park too.
Montgomery County asked Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable to post an officer in a cabin by the main road.
“I think what's important is having an officer there who will provide a safer environment,” Constable Gable said.
Until recently, The Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition had been using the cabin.
A spokesperson said its members are sad and disappointed about having to leave.
“We had a lot of wildlife out there. We had bobcats come in. We had raptors come in from that area,” said Executive Director Roslyn Even.
Thousands of kids play at the parks in the preserve.
People also enjoy walking on the wooded trails. One man told KHOU 11 News “it’s nice and quiet.”
An officer is expected to stay at the park full-time starting in a couple of weeks.
