HOUSTON – Alvin residents were left without power Tuesday night after the energy service provider reported an equipment failure in Brazoria County.

Texas New Mexico Power reported the outage on Twitter around 6:20 p.m. The company originally estimated restoration to take place at 7:30 for Lewisville and 8 p.m. for Alvin.  Then it pushed the time to 10 p.m.

As of 10:12 p.m.  some customers were still reported to be without power.

The residents struggled with no power to their ACs as triple-digit temperatures were reported across the area.

The company was posting frequent updates about the situation via Twitter @TNMP.
